Used an Enduro collar on my reverb for the first time this weekend, as I wanted to use a tailpack for carrying gear. Wrapped the top bit of the post that the pack would strap to in inner tube and gaffer tape to protect it.

Just washed the bike and discovered the bottom half of the post (ie the bit that was still usable) has got quite a lot of scoring on.

I've been using Reverbs for 6 or 7 years now all year, all weather and never managed any shaft damage. Would it seem reasonable that because the collar has a lip on it (to stop the seal getting squished) that it's been trapping grit which has then been forced under the seal? Seems a bloody stupid design if so!

Anybody like to point me towards a cheap upper 150mm drop stealth part...?
