My mates got an MT500 jacket and the zips gone . Looking on Endura website they charge £15 for a repair but they don’t specify what type of repair that is .Anyone had a zip replaced and how much please?

£15 probably not far off although they might charge P&P etc.

I've had jacket repairs including zips from Scottish Mountain Gear in Musselburgh, they always do a great job and will probably give you an accurate quote pretty quick 👍

I sent Endura an old set of MT500 tights with a broken ankle zip. The charge was £15 to fit a new zip. They changed both of them and didn't bill me for the second one.

Aye SMG is quite close to me. I've never had anything but great service from them.

A quick look at SMG website shows >£60 for a jacket zip, and £45 for a zip in a pr of over trousers. A new slider on a zip is £17! Not sure what people have had done for £15, but it must have been a while ago.

I recently emailed them for a broken zip on an Endura shell jacket. Didn't want to know and said it would destroy the waterproofing, but others on here said other repairere such as alpkit would be more willing.

I fixed it with some molegrips but then within three rides the zip broke again and I ripped an L shaped hole in the arm, so with about 4 other small holes I decided to call it a day and bought a Nukeproof Blackline.

Yeah, they said the same to me but luckily the jacket was replaced under warranty. The replacement jacket had the same flimsy zip.

I had 2 pairs of old singletrack shorts stitching fail in the crotch

Was quoted £15 each for repair by endura

Which seemed reasonable, considering they were probably 10 years old between them.

In the end they forgot they had them and after 6 weeks I had to email and ask, they were very apologetic and repaired them and sent them back foc

Pretty happy with that tbh!

Anyone on here had any success with this service from Endura?

I've emailed them twice with no reply. I'm sick of Endura zips failing, most recently on my expensive Single-track onesie which has not lasted long at all.

At this rate I'll never buy an Endura product again which is annoying as they are UK based and aside from the zips I like their gear

I used fb messenger and emails to try and get a replacement pair of crappy Humvees this year after they wore through the fabric within six months and they were useless. I’ll avoid them from now on.

The zip failed on my MT500 jacket. Contacted Endura who said that's the only zip they won't fix due (apparently due to concerns over waterproofing). I've had a couple of pairs of Endura liner shorts fail recently too. Will certainly not be paying premium prices for their kit in the future.

Yes, they fixed a tear in the seat of my riding trousers last year for £15.

That just makes no sense to me! ok the jacket may not be fully waterproof after the repair but if not repaired that jacket is useless

@escrs I completely agree. I was baffled by their response. Felt like a "computer says no" moment.

Extract from their email back to me "Unfortunately the one repair we don’t carry out is a replacement waterproof zip"

Like others have said, Alpkit seem to do a better job of sorting repairs.

Depending on where you are, LSR in Burnley (I’ll tell you now and I’ll tell you firmly…) are pretty good too - managed to repair a jacket Rapha said they couldn’t.

Edit - thinking about it, they also replaced a waterproof zip on a Gore jacket I had

I've had great service from SMG, but I've also returned kit to Endura, Henri Lloyd and Musto in the past for factory repairs, mostly zips and seams, and every time the job has been done well, done fast and done for less than going to a repair specialist.

Musto was a waterproof main zip on a goretex jacket, Endura has replaced the zip on a roubaix top and fixed the worn stitching in the crotch of a pair of ancient baggies. HL replaced all the seals on a sailing drysuit.

If you can, email Endura's repair service with a description of the repair and a photo of the damage - I've found they give clear assessments of whether it's fixable and are great to deal with. I think I've had to wait a bit in the past for a response, but it's far better to get it repaired for a relatively small cost than it is to go out and buy something brand new and chuck the old kit.

I put a hefty tear in a pair of Norrona shorts playing with sheep and a barbed wire fence.  The options were that they'd post me a patch or fix it for P&P... handed it in at a shop and the repair was very good.

Paragonia also good patching and repairing zips

I too have had good service from SMG - repairing tents.  the repairs were made really strongly but a bit crudely.  I'd rather that than neat and weak

Like Hazmo and YorshireRipper I've not been impressed with Endura stitching and my usage of their stuff nowadays is limited to a couple of pairs of FS260 bib shorts. Once these die they won't have a presence in my cycling kit, too pricey and poorly constructed.

I think it’s only fair to report that a while after posting this comment I received an email from an Endura employee that said they had seen my comment, hunted me down and were sending me a replacement pair of shorts.

Even better than that is that they have improved the design. The shorts have stronger fabric in areas that failed, a rear zip pocket and also a better fit.

Endura also got back to me. They warrantied my Single-track one piece and offered to fix the zip on my gilet for a small amount, can't fault that.

Facebook got me a quicker response than email

Had a pair of 3/4 length Endura bibs fixed...needed to send a reminder email...but the fix was free/negligible from memory (the sewing around the pad had come undone).

I've found older Endura stuff to be very variable in quality, but more recent stuff (largely MTR and more recently GV500) has been good quality and decent value for money.

My wife tore a hole in some top of range Assos bib shorts in a crash. Assos wouldn't repair but offered something like 30% of a new pair. Alpkit store in Keswick did a really tidy repair for £15!

That's super cheap for a repair.

I usually patch my kit up myself, or if it's bad, MrsF will do it (she has more sewing machines than I have bikes).  People always ask her why she doesn't do more sewing for others - reason is no-one want's to pay a living wage when they can get something super cheap, made by slave labour, from the high street.

Yep. My wife makes most of her own clothes- mainly from designers leftovers and even making the patterns sometimes. If she charged her time they would cost a fortune.
