So a mates wife has asked if we can plan a day on the bikes at the end of October for the lucky birthday boy. Wanted to head to afan bit the Welsh gravity enduro is on and not sure how much will be affected. I want to race but one mate doesn't so that's out the window!
Bike park Wales peddling up is an easy option but not my pick. Maybe back up stormy rainy day plan?
Thought about Brecon gap ride but bad/wet weather might make that less fun? Basically looking for South west/ Wales day rides that hold up well in weather!
What am I not thinking of?
Cwm Carn?
Ahem, Quantocks?
Brechfa?
Cwmcarn is our weekly night ride and evening ride most of the summer and some weekends. Love the place but fancy something different.
I always heard the quantocs were a no go after rain? Obviously I'm assuming it's going to rain a bit before the ride. October might stay dry?!
Brechfa could be good, none of is has been there yet
Gap is boring, don't bother.
If you want natural, try googling for the classics like Doethie Valley. Make two plans - natural or trail centre, and execute the one you fancy depending on weather.

A Welsh local mate met us a couple of Saturdays ago. We'd traveled down and booked the uplift. He hadn't and paid on the day - didn't have to wait too long to get on and got a good few runs in. Depends if there's loads of you I suppose
Gap isn't boring, it's a spectacular ride IF you get a nice clear day!
^^^^^^^
This.

Fine, but whoever thought that was wrong.

I stand corrected then!
How about mid Wales? Something like the Mach 3 and/or ClimachX, or a natural loop around the Nant Yr Arian area?
Quantocks are rideable all year round, that'd get my vote but I live there so I'm biased. 🙂
Off the bike otherwise I'd offer to show you around. Drop me an email if you do chose the Qs, and I'll happily help you plot a route. There is a big thread on here that pops up regularly that covers most the best bits.
WGES at Bryn Bettws on the 29th will only affect 3 trails on Sunday from 09:45 - 15:15. Zig Zags and Graveyard are not affected by the race. All trails will be open on Saturday just with a bit more traffic than normal.
Absolute result the boys coming are up for the racing! Afan it is!
