Trying to find some strong rims for a remote trip with panniers, but can also be used after for other general riding and bikepacking. I want 25mm internal width so I can use 29er 40mm to 2.4inch tyres. Looking at DT swiss rims for example they have so many categories from XC to All mountain, enduro , hybrid and trekking. Trekking rims are all too narrow for what I want
Is there any difference between the strength needed for Enduro vs Touring (impacts vs loaded weight)?
It all seems a bit arbritrary
The DT Swiss HX 491 have a max weight of 150kg so they should be super strong and reliable for touring or bikepacking, but is there any reason an eMTB rim would be unsuitable for a non E-Bike?
Some of the rims recommended by Alee Denham are 800-900 g and really hard to source too except the Ryde Andra 40 (braking surface is a bonus for ease of using my pedalcell generator) and Velocity Cliffhanger (lighter but much more pricey)
