I am looking to get some kind of chain tensioner for my pack to help if someone snaps their mech or hanger. Trouble is that all the tensioners I can see need a mech hanger to work, so no good if it's snapped off. Any ideas?

if its just to get you home then just shorten the chain and wrap it around one of the rear cogs. the chain'll probably come off a few times but so what if it gets you home

darrell has it right. Have used this bodge a number of times to get home - works just fine.

Use plastic bottle stuff and a some zip ties/ tape to make a tensioner on the chainstay
