Just bought a second hand Direto, apart from trainer road or zwift, any cheap/free software that works with it? Or suck it up and pay for zwift?

Elite have an app called myET training. They also have an app called Upgrado which you use for software updates.  I think the former can be used for training but have never actually tried it after downloading as I use TR

I presume RGT will work on it and presume it still has a free version. Only uses it a few times after they 'upgraded' to steering, used to like it before that.

IndieVelo is currently free as it's in Beta. It's very Zwift-alike.

Mywhoosh is free. It's not as good as zwift but it's not a million miles a way. Works fine with my Direto and wahoo HRM

Xert is meant to be decent and quite cheap. TR is quite expensive but good for training. Zwift in the middle cost wise

I've been using FulGaz for the last few weeks on a 28 day free trial; so far I'm very impressed.

I've never really got on with the gamification of zwift nor am I interested in the racing. FullGaz works for me as it's 4k real footage onto a 44" TV right infront of my turbo. So far I've free rode through a random village in France near where I used to live so remember the roads well. Also climbed Aloe d'Huez and a few other big cols. Currently working though climbing training plan inbuilt which seems to be well structured - it's very similar to TrainerRoad that I used extensively a few years ago.

It's not free but at I think £80 for the year works out a chunk cheaper than the alternatives. I recon I will be buying a years sub once this trial finishes in a few days.

Rouvy do 14 day free trial as standard, sometimes longer, great for riding virtual route/climb you might be planning to ride in real life.

Gave me a good idea of what to expect and how to pace the ~6.9 mile Road To Hell climb out of Denbigh to Llyn Brenig.

14 day free trial on Zwift, but any member not subscribing gets 25Km free per calendar month, which will last longer on routes like Ven Top (Ventoux) that start on the climb.
