Ok, I’m prehistoric and run tubes on one of my bikes, get over it ! Anyway, I had 2 punctures yesterday and while using my latest mini pump I started dreaming about an electric pump. Anyone used one (Amazon probably) and can recommend one ? Do they last etc.?
Yeah there was one doing the crowdfunding rounds.not so long ago, can't remember the name though...
I bought one of these at the start of the summer. Its accurate according to my digital gauges and if I wanted to would fit into my back pack impressed so far with it topping up the tyres and lent it to a Swiss girl on the campsite in Lenzerheide who was struggling with pumping her tyres up with a mini pump. You can preset the pressure and leave it as it will knock off. Got mine from ebay for £27.
I see a dude with a bosh one, seemed good.
Mmm, sounds like the way to go, thanks guys
Fumpa cool name eh ?
Might be useful info... ?
Ok I’ll bite. Had punctures? But all these people converting to tubeless must be wrong? So let’s buy a new pump so everytime I get a puncture I can pump it up!
Or…. I could convert to tubeless!
go on, I know it’s a bit of a learning curve but I reckon you’ll be a happy person in the end.
I saw these are becoming a thing. I figure the world is already too full of stuff with batteries and after 30+ years of cycling this is one thing I can definitely live without. Plus I know that I’d only end up packing a manual pump as a backup for the inevitable moment the battery packs up/forget to charge.
I have a fumpa pump and never used it.
I do take it on holiday rather than a track pump in case I get a puncture and need to sort it at base.
Goldfish, I’ve got tubeless in my other bike and tubeless isn’t quite faultless is it ? You still need a pump with you and even a tube (very occasionally) to get you home. Yes I’ve got the bacon strips too. Watched some downhilling the other day and even legend Gregg Minnaar lost his back tyre !
Fair enough.
I used to carry an electric pump, mainly for the car, in the car. But it died so now have a traditional double barrel foot pump in there
there was a premium electric pump brand someone mentioned on here that’s supposed to be longer lasting but I’m really struggling to find it again…
Just get a decent manual pump.
I have a Silca Tatico pump. It's quite expensive but pumps up amazingly well and will never run out of charge. No need for electric pumps and dumping batteries into environmentally responsible landfill.
Hmm maybe I am also a luddite....
BUT how can it be worth the extra faff of an electric pump when I hardly use my manual pump and when I do it just works. It doesn't need to be improved at all.
I'm bemused by the need to save a few 'strokes' of energy pumping up tyres :o)

+1.
Always makes me laugh/sigh/roll my eyes when I watch a backpacking vid on YouTube with the person banging on about lightweight kit, titanium sporks, tents that weight less than a pair of my boxer shorts & then they get a battery powered pump out to inflate their £50 backpacking pillow. The pillow seems like a luxury, but then the battery powered pump puts the icing on the cake of ridiculousness. Humph.
Saw a video on Berm Peak Express YouTube channel a few weeks back. He was testing a bunch of random cycling gadgets. One of which was a tiny pump about the size of a large matchbox maybe similar to the Fumpa? It pumped up tyres fine and in good time but the battery was short lived and only good for 1.5 - 2 tyres. So you really can't rely on it to save you from a sticky situation.
A friend carries one, but he only has use of one arm, so can't use a normal pump.
Do e-bikes allow you to run stuff off the bike battery. They could work then, with no need for an extra battery on the pump.
When one comes along that can totally replace a proper pump, I might be interested- smaller in a pack, basically. Not comparing them with tiny pumps because tiny pumps are all ****. But it doesn't seem like they're quite there yet.
Presumably these are for ebikes?
Bruce no a manual bike. I think I posted just after getting back from a very hot ride with loads of hills and getting hotter pumping up my tyre with a pretty naff mini pump that I have hardly used. Maybe I should have cooled down first 🙂 I was really thinking more about my mate who had a puncture recently and has now taken to carrying a track pump in his back pack ?? The joke is, it was his first puncture for over 3 years…
Where's the convenience of having to remember to charge a device before each ride rather than just leaving a conventional pump on the frame/in the pack?
Seriously..... We're ****ed as a species of we think it's easier to rely on an electric device as opposed to a bit of elbow grease.... FFS

Holy over reaction batman
How many modern devices do you own that you could make do with a less modern device? Or are you a massive luddite anyway.
I don't own an electric inflator btw
