my GF has a knack for using her forearms as stoppers in a crash.

she has some Fox Launch elbow pads but they just ride up her arm in a fall. added to the fact that they a not very effective, they are also quite bulky and a pain to put on and she can't wear jackets/tops over them.

can you recommend decent elbowe/forearm protection that isn't too bulky?

POC VPD Air are small and neat, I hate elbow pads but I get on OK with them

+1 for POC VPD Air elbow pads. Fairly slender and comfy, had no trouble with slipping. They fit under my Endura MT500 II Jacket no problem, but they are a snug fit under my MT500 Long Sleeve Jersey.

I have some 7idp (control?) elbow pads which are relatively low profile but have a hard shell.

They go under tops that my fave Ion ones are too bulky for and they stay in place, despite feeling a bit weird as you do them up.

+1 for these.

They were cheap as chips from CRC , fit under a jacket and never move.

my race face indy pads are good. don't move and can fit under my long sleeve jersey. also tend to forget I put them on until I get a bit hot on the warmer days

I have gform, I think they're shit tbh- they're sweatier than my big POC hardshell stormtrooper pads, and offer about as much protection as a thick jersey. Basically armwarmers with delusions of grandeur

Troy Lees for me - I’ve got the superwoman act down to a tee when I go OTB so I appreciate the good forearm protection.

Not completely launched myself whilst wearing mine yet, but had a couple of offs that would have grazed or bruised and they've definitely reduced the damage. They fit under a jersey or act as arm warmers and the fact they're comfy to wear means at least I'm wearing them...

I have POC VPD Air and like them. For xc bimbles I use RaceFace Charge ones which give a little protection and are very thin. I broke my elbow and had a skin graft on it a year ago so like a little more than just a jersey..
