After a visit to BPW, my interest is now in fast jumpy swoopy stuff.

Ive got some heavy duty knee pads, which have been great when gnar gets too much, but I think I’ve skinned my fore arms each time.

So, I’ll only wear for an uplift type day, need to protect lower arm as well as elbow and fit on my MASSIVE guns.

Also budget up to about £40.

Many ideas?

As a medium weight option I really liked some TLD elbow/forearm pads I tried. Currently using some IXS flows but they have a bit less coverage. As with all pads it comes down to fit, I have big forearms compared to my upper arms. Generally order a few options from CRC and keep what I like best.

Had heaps of pads that never really fitted, many of which fitted other people really well so just try a load on, worse thing is either they cut the circulation off or end up around your wrists.

I hate elbow pads. I have some fox ones which I begrudgingly wear occasionally. They are crap. Hope that helps !

No substitute for trying on.  While howsyourdad's comment seems silly, there's some truth there.  I think a lot of mountain bikers have a set of elbow pads they bought because reasons that they hate wearing and don't.

I think it's probably harder to find elbow pads that suit than it is to find good kneepads.  They need to stay in place when you crash or they're pointless but not restrict your arms movement, get sweaty, feel bulky under a jacket, cut off circulation etc.  It's a pretty tall order.  The upside is that it's a lot easier to carry elbow pads to the top and put them on if you want to do that than it is kneepads as there's going to be no faffing taking shoes off.

I've ended up with POC vpd 2.0's for the occasions I need them.  I've tried and hated 661's in the past.  TLD were a complete waste of time for me but they do seem to fit some people that love them.

Big fan of my IXS flows. Shame that the stitching is coming of, which seems a really coming issue.
