Next Monday I will be starting a 4 day riding bonanza. Beginning around Long Mynd, Hopton then overnight in Llandridod Wells. I would like to explore the Elan Valley before moving on to Nant Yr Arian, Cadair Idris and Climachx. Does anybody on here know of any good routes around the Elan Valley or other recommendations in the vicinity?

Also, I've plotted the Elan Valley route from the Vertebrate Graphics guidebook (30km, but strenuous - "very steep or very rough"), which I can email to you. Do you prefer gpx or mmo or pdf?

Superb riding west of Rhayader. Some trails might be a bit heavy going in places at the moment, though. Both the above routes were superb last summer!
Check out the bike shop in town always helpful.
the two routes simon has pinned above are classics, try and finish on the final descent of on the second route 😆 from where it cross's the road. If you are not laughing at the end then you are on the wrong route.
