You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I'm reluctant to keep spending money on the Crank Brothers rebuild kits at c. £13 to replace the worn bearings or bushings on my many pairs of Eggbeaters. Since I don't need new end caps or the metal tool every time, life would be infinitely cheaper if I could just buy the platic bushings separately.
Anyone sussed out a suitable size and source for the inner bushing which comes on the Eggbeater 2? (It is actually for my Eggbeater 3, but I'm hoping that the bushing might last better than the needle bearings).
I see a chap on ebay is selling bushings, but he tells me they fit only the older style pedals.
I was in your position for quite a while with Eggbeaters and Candys. After persevering for ages, I found the most reliable and cost effctive solution was to bin then and buy some Shimano pedals.
Much, MUCH better in every way. Function, feel, reliablity, all of it. After years on CB, Shimano were a revelation.
Echoing Driller's comments.
Everyone I know who has had Egg Beaters has eventually canned them and gone to Shimano resulting in big grins, less trail-fail and more spare cash.
One mate in particular had 6 pairs that he rotated as at least 2 were sent off getting warrantied at any one time. He eventually tired of this (understandably) and got some Shimanos.
I'm running two sets of Shimano 520s on different bikes. One set is 3 years old and the other set is 6 years old. Plenty of clattering off rocks etc in the UK and Alps trips too. Neither are anywhere near the end-of-life yet!
I know it doesn't help with the specifics of your question, but might save you some pain!
