Can having odd feet be the reason i can't get my cleats feeling right or is there a magic formula ? somehow my right shoe feels stiffer ?
Any old ankle/knee injuries?- my left foot feels 'stiffer', due to the fact I have a slight roll on my right foot from a ligament strain years ago- nowt serious, but noticeable. I set up the cleats the same each side, but try to make sure I keep my right knee inwards slightly while pedalling.
Thanks for that insight,i was diagnosed with Osteo arthritis in my left knee in my teens and had to stop playing football. It does'nt bother me too much when cycling.I seem to have a slight roll on right foot too.I'd bought new shoe's thinking it was them as they were a cheap model so bought some expensive one's only to get the same feel, thanks again...
Do you have cleats setup same on both sides ? I find i can get my left foot dialled in fine but my right foot, which i also have a slight roll in, is very sensitive to cleat position.
Needless to say my cleat positions are quite different on each shoe.
I've had them the same but they feel wrong and like you i can't seem to get the right to feel the same ! on long rides of 2-3 hrs it drives me nuts as sometimes they can feel ok but not for long and also my toes feel a bit numb on the right foot which i've never had a prob with before...the right feels like its an inch or so out ?
Then you probably need to change the position. If you look at my cleat positions, the right hand side is less angled from straight and is further back so it really is quite different.
I know what you mean about it feeling okay at first then starts to feel funny. I am still trying to get a perfect fit for my right foot but it is a lot better once i decided to not try and get the same position for both feet.
Just to add to post.
Not sure if you have done this but for angle of cleat sit on a table or anything where you feet don't touch the floor and let them rest naturally. If you then look down at them this gives you an idea of how angled out they are, if they are at all.
When i do this my left foot is much more angled than my right. It doesn't help with fore/aft and it is only a starting point but it did help me.
yeah ive found that my right feels better with the heel inwards but can't get the fore-aft position, just a few mm either way can feel drastically different.
