Now don't get me wrong I will be using my 'acoustic' bike more than an e bike still but the fact that I am now riding with people who have e bikes I realise how fun it would be if we were all on e bikes and how far we could go.
I am definitely going to go second hand as can just about justify that cost but am wondering what model to go for that is sub £3000 if possible but still fairly new (2018 at the very oldest) and must be enduro/ trail.
Thanks
I'd leave it a little while, stock is at zero everywhere, so second hand has a premium just now, plus with the new shimano motor, and others bringing out new motors once 2021 bikes hit there might be more available and better pricing.
For 3k i'd be looking at something like a Focus Jam2/Sam2, Cube Hybrid 140/160, etc, the ones that retail around the 4.5-5k mark with decent kit, good motors and good batteries, the giant e-reign and treks have some models in that price range as well, so worth just looking at that area and plotting the best route to the one you want.
If you have a bike you like the cheapest way is to convert with a bbq mount kit £700 ish and a variety available

Gas or charcoal?
Do they make them for Raleigh Burners?
Aw FFS!
You know what I mean a bb mount kit.
@tjagain I knew what you meant 😂 didn't fancy putting a grill on the front of my carbon stumpjumper, was hoping it was a typo 😂
If you are happy with the Stumpjumper you won't go far wrong with a Turbo Levo. Got an Alps and Finale trip coming up and mine will be going in the camper along with the Enduro.

Tis a good idea, next big thing in bikepacking! 😆
I liked the look of this

Mainly because anything at that price, or even a bit above it is considerably lower spec.
Availability appears sketchy, but everything's in short supply currently, so maybe that will pick up. I did hear you can put in a pre order, with several weeks waiting time, but as i dont yyet have enough to include it in my own selection, no point is finding out exactly.
Might have a number of sellers popping up in the next year or so all offering good kit on a generic frame, each competing so better spec. Hopefully.
With 3k to spend id be looking at a 2nd hand 2019 Specialized Levo
Bonus to this is the warranty is transferable, due to there being some issues with the motors (Specialized have released fixes for the issues) they have extended the 2019/2020 Levo's motor warranty by another two years to give owners peace of mind
So if you bought a 2nd Levo that was new in Jan 2019, instead of the motor's warranty running out in Jan 2021 it will now run out in Jan 2023!
If your down south then Chris Reilly @Berkshire Cycles is the guy to speak to
They take lightly used Levo's in exchange for new models so have 2nd hand bikes that they have serviced for sale at a reduced rate
They advertise them on their Facebook page or give them a call
Another option for your budget is the Decathlon Stylus, it gets great reviews, good spec for the money, if you can find one in stock they are £2700 which leaves £300 for any upgrades you might like

I think you'll be lucky to find a 2019 Levo for 3K, especially as they now have a longer warranty than a new 2021 unit. The ones I've seen (just adverts on FB, I'm not looking) want near 4 for a 2018 unit. I think the Vitus E-Sommet would be where I'd look, as they were 1st produced in 2018 and the shimano motor is seemingly reasonably reliable (I've had a DOA out of the box but hey..) & it's a great bike (I have one sat in my garage as a spare)

The 2020 entry level Levo was £4500 new (was low as 4k in some shops) so 2019 entry level Levo 2nd hand should be do able for 3k
You do need a little luck for one to come up near you in the right size and in a colour you like but they will be out there
That's why i mentioned Berkshire Cycles, if you give them a call and they dont have anything in your price range/size/colour then you can ask them to let you know when one comes in, Ive seen them selling lightly used (60 miles) 2019 Kenevo comp for £2990!

Yeah, should be, LOL.. those same base models have an extended warranty longer than the current new bike, and that ^^^^ is the old 1.3 motor, hence the lower price. I'm not looking for a bike but do note the adverts that come along, as a friend want one after this old Hiabike was stolen, and I aint seeing anything coming in at 3k, that's not to say it's not happening.
Check out their Facebook page and you will see they have had 2019 comp carbon ex demo bikes for £3500 plus entry level 2019 Levo's for £3000
On ebay this year there have been a few 2019 Levo's sold for around the 3k mark, they are out there you just need to search and be patient
Here's a good thread on an e-mtb forum discussing 3k bikes

Thanks everyone for your help, it's much appreciated.
