have just done a skills day with Ed Oxley and would like to pass on how good the day was. It was the "Alpine prep" day and although the weather dampened (ahem!) the day somewhat, Ed managed to keep everyones spirits up and delivered the course in a professional and easy to understand way. There were 7 guys on the course with varying abilities but i felt we all had the course pitched to our own levels. I for one will invest in another skills day this year.
Cheers Ed and i will continue searching for the steps of certain f..king death! And try not to scratch my forks this time.
Chin up!!

Sounds good. I've got the 2nd stop crashing course booked for May, looking forward to it.

Regarding the Alpine Prep course, what sort of things were you doing? Are there any obvious things you would ride now that you would't have ridden previously?

Glad you had a good experience with Ed, I don't know Ed but I saw a recent video (with pints & tea & bikes) and 'boy' can he ride. He makes it look so effortless.

I loved Ed's 'local video'.

Ed's skills courses are great. His style is brilliant, he floats and pumps so nicely and it really underlines everything he teaches. That's what I like so much about his skills courses, they seem to be aimed at that style of riding. That's what I thought anyway.

My mate was on yesterdays (and todays) course and he looked clean and un-knackered when he nipped to mine last night. Which leads me to think you all spent far too long in Mooch!

Would highly recommend Ed's courses. Have done both the Stop Crashing ones at Gisburn.
Really easy going and relaxed style.
Doug makes a good point about the way Ed rides, it's all about flow and weighting/unweighting the bike. On one trail he had us listening to his tyres, sounds crazy but it really illustrated what he was trying to get across.

The fact is, Ed taught me some really simple, basic ideas and techniques that I've been applying ever since and I am a 1000 times better for them and, more importantly, more confident when I'm out and about.

'Chin up and relax hard'!

Yeah the points about weighting & unweighting were constant through the day.
I agree about the small pointers that i can use and hopefully make me a better rider, all about pump & flow really.
Davey - is your mate the lad from Wales? he said he really enjoyed the day.
mattrgee - We did body position, pump & flow, switchbacks, cornering techniques, manual technique, lots of little things that when put together seem really natural. I will try and take it all in over next few days and get out to practice some more.
And Ed is a brilliant rider, very smooth and flowy
Top bloke too and his beard his massive!
