Was going for a play on the inner city stuff to get used to the new bike, can't really be arsed hauling myself out onto the hills proper.

Probs go Craiglockhart - Bonaly - round the foot of White Hill - into Dreghorn - Mortonhall - Braids - Hermitage

I'll do your wedding photos, I think I have a few shots on an old underwater disposable camera left.... but you might get double exposed with a squid.

No pentlands escape for me this week 🙁

At least I get a five day weekend to make up for it though 😀

Enjoy it if you get up there, it's the first relatively calm day in what feels like a very long time.

I'll head out to the shop and see if anyone is about. If not I'll assume myself or tag along with the girls... 8)

Dammit, I've just been dumped upon from a very great height at work, might just make it to the shop for 7 but it could be touch and go, don't wait... 🙁

Once this wedding and honeymoon are dealt with I will be out once more.

Whisky never tastes as good as when sipped looking over the city.

I heard we missed someone! We went Clubbidean>pistachio>maidens>castlelaw>cox's>johnny zebra (!)> then some tracks i don't know the name of to Bonaly, then back through Dreghorn. Good ride, lovely evening!

Sorry we missed you Kunstler!

Don't think those tracks to Bonaly have a name, wondering if the uni boys used to call them Pinball on account of the repeated rooty take offs.

Aha. Well I've only been on one Wednesday ride before and someone told me that every ride starts by going up Puke Hill so that's the way I went - thinking I would catch up with you. I kept thinking that I'd get a glimpse of you ahead up the hill - and that I must be slow up the hill tonight (but then I did get to the shop from Meadowbank in half an hour!). I had a good ride - circuit of Hare Hill and back by Maiden's and Scalextric. Stopped and chatted to a few folk. I kept asking if they were the STW ride and explained about it. There might be more new folk next time.

bigjim I'm familiar with your route up until castlelaw (or did you mean Capelaw?).

Ha, no, as soon as Hervelo were out of sight we swung a hard right at the bottom of puke hill and avoided it.

We followed the firing range track round to the foot of Castlelaw and took the red road up to the base of Allermuir. JZ is one of the descents towards Dreghorn, where we played around on some singletrack.

I wouldn't want to have to rush up puke hill, sorry about that. cox's is the great little track that comes off the castlelaw>dreghorn track and heads east.

I vetoed going up puke hill and exchanged it for Castlelaw - sorry Kunster!

Great ride guys so thanks, all the rest of you missed out as it was a lovely warm evening with just a gentle breeze and the hills are still surprisingly dry. 🙂

No worries Alex, you weren't exactly slow! Saying that it is usually a bit more mellow pace wise so feel free to come back anytime.

Sounds like classic Wednesday night rejuvenation... Hoping to make one in mid-June, while mini-me's on tour down south for a week.

God I miss cycling 🙂
