Saturday saw one of those emergencies that I am sure many a mountain bikers can understand, I discovered a cut in the outside of my tyre just as i was about to pedal out to the hills for my Saturday ride. Tyre still inflated, but the cut was too long for the sealant to have any hope of holding things together if it opened up any more. Would have been madness to intentionally set off on a ride like that. If i didn't get a tyre on then no ride this weekend. my Saturday ticking away fast. I popped round to the Edinburgh bike Coop. My only hope to source some replacement rubber in time. Disaster! They had moments before sold out of the tyre that i wanted. Seeing my crestfallen face and truly understanding the pain that the prospect of not riding can bring, the gentlemen in the shop gave me one of his own personal tyres so that i could still ride! what an absolute hero. and the weekend was saved!!

Which branch?

I've been impressed with the mechanics in their Canonmills Branch in Edinburgh. The mechanics in another local shop, where I had originally bought my bike, seemed variously just incompetent, grumpy or stoned (or at least, had to wait a few seconds for each thought to turn up, while staring over your left shoulder weirdly).

The guys at the Canonmills store actually seemed genuinely proactive and interested in trying to fix the problem with my bike.

The difference between a kif in a bike shop and a rider in a bike shop.

That's at least two packs of biscuits when you return the tyre.

Buy a needle and dental floss for next time?
