I did a ride today alongside someone else, I have a 520, he has an 810... comparing strava after the ride I noticed his GPS was waaaay more accurate than mine
is that the way it's supposed to be?
How do you judge his to be more accurate?
Anyway, 810 has a difference in that it doesn't have GLONASS support. 520 does. More satellites, in theory better.
How are they set up? Both set to 1s sampling, or is there a difference? Smart sampling may be less "accurate", depending on where you're riding.
Both using GPS for speed/distance, or are both using a speed sensor, or one is and one isn't?
If talking about elevation, while both have barometers they can be way off depending on calibration or lack of, difference in the hardware or even just variations between same ones off the factory line. Dirt in ports also affect it. Plus where were they stored? On the bars, or in a pocket/bag, or different between them? Even the angle on the bar can affect it depending how it catches wind. They depend on air pressure basically.
I'm talking about on strava my route was all over the place and so far out in places it would miss segments, while his was spot on
I'm using GPS + GLONASS and 1 second intervals
this is a recent replacement for one that had a GPS failure, hope I don't have another duff one!
