Got myself a fancy ebike for commuting.
On the whole, it's great. Contradicts Greg Lemond: it doesn't get faster, it just gets easier, which is what I need.
But, it has this weird sensation when hitting the assistance limit. Obviously, the power goes off at 15mph, but the clutch doesn't seem to engage until a bit later. So it's like riding with the brakes on, unless you can put the effort in for a bit more until the clutch engages. Then, you can feel there's no resistance from the motor, just gravity as it's quite heavy.
Has anyone else noticed this, and more importantly, been able to fix it?
There's no way of changing settings using the Shimano app as its a Giant bike and the control is through their proprietary system.

Shimano and giant warranty issues!? Yikes. It does sound like something is up with the clutch. It gets said a lot but there are no serviceable or fixable parts of a Shimano motor. If it’s playing up you have to take it to a dealer.
Yup, feels like the brake is on or youre dragging an anchor. Even going downhill you get this dragging feel.
I ride on turbo all the time. Spin up til i hit about 16mph, then coast till the speed drops to below the cut off point- say 14mph, then a couple of spins to go back to max speed.
Kind of like Engage-coast-engage-coast and so on and so forth.
Sort of happens with my Brose motor too. If I switch it off, then its easier to pedal
I don't get this effect on either my shimano e8000 or my bosch, it sounds like a fault to me.

Are you sure about that? Never noticed that on road commute sections, which is when drag subtleties are most obvious.
