"The Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) also plans to develop an electric bike network around the park."

I suspect a network of low level gravel tracks rather than a charging station on top of Ben Macduhi but a positive move nevertheless.

I'd imagine a hire place, and some waymarked routes within the range of the hire bikes will about be it.

I assume, to achieve the requisite government buzzword bingo (and snouts in the trough), it will be "connected by solar" and "powered by 5G".

I think it's only going to be worthwhile when they initiate charging areas so bikes can stop, recharge and move on. which appears to be the problem for e-cars presently.
That said I think as this is all new its just down to teething problems with there really being no ebike/car infrastructure, but as the years go on, charging points(or better range batteries) will be everywhere.

If you look on CNP website you'll see that it's all about existing facilities, cycle hire and charging, mapped routes etc.
The cynical amongst us would guess that they're taking advantage of available " green grants" to promote these.
It can't be a bad thing but it probably isn't the whole new network of fun that the articles suggest.

Interesting. We were there last week and hired eebs twice- a half day from aviemore bikes and a full day from bothy bikes. For us (both in our 50s, me a regular rider, my wife not at all) it made a fantastic week even better. The whole area seems perfect for this.
More route options without having to ask for advice on here seems the way forward…

When I read "network" I assumed more charging points, not more trails (of which there is an abundance). Having said that, when the section of the A9 from Aviemore to Dalraddy is complete, it'll have an adjacent cycle track linking Aviemore to Kingussue (and thereby Newtonmore) passing the Highland Wildlife Centre. There are now also plans for a dedicated cycle track from Aviemore to Carrbridge.
