I'm probably being thick here, I'd like to create searches without any text, just by category, size, material etc. I can't see how.

(Old light steel road frame ~"57cm stealth ad FWIW).

Am wondering if I can find a bike for life, i expect anything I really want (Slim Chance etc) will not be within my price range...

On the mobile version, if you search for, eg "Road bike", you then have the opportunity to filter results by size, price range, material.

Alternatively, it can be worth searching "steel road 57" or whatever key details you want, as many sellers will include as much info as possible in the description.

Sorry, I thought I had explained.

I want to search without text in a certain category, to have as wide a search as possible.

I think if you included an exclude search term it will let you save a search without an include search term if that makes sense. you just have to make sure that the exclude term doesn't get rid of anything that you might want.

does this do what you want?

If searching in this way, is it dependent on sellers properly filling in all the information on the product details section?

Genuine question, as this is the reason I haven't tried searching in the way OP describes, and quite a few listings IME have will list lots of the details in the written product description, but aren't necessarily included in the product details.

That's browse by category

As noted above next to useless.

Yeah, it depends on people filling out the details properly. 99% of used-item sellers don’t, and the other 1% make up statistics in order to back up their points on internet forums.

So it’s annoying that eBay doesn’t do what you want, but pragmatically it’s no real loss.

Cheers all. I know the limitations, but it means I wouldn't miss anything. I can also see over time how well it works if I have a few different searches eg "steel", steel as material, blank but excluding other materials etc.
