Bought a product from a dealer in the US and they've quoted intl shipping as 6-8 weeks. Is this normal?
The dealer seems OK feedback wise.
hmmmm...... sounds like he is literally "shipping" it (ie: by boat).
I live in Australia, and most stuff arrived from the UK or US within 2 weeks - usually about a week.
The cheapest US postal service takes about that long at worst with a stop in customs for the duty to be added.
A question kind of related to your post... if i was to buy something from the US say from ebay would i have to pay import taxes or is that generally included in the postage price?

Unless the seller covers it (unlikely) you will have to pay import duty if applicable on the total value of the package (Item + postage) then VAT on top of that. There is also normally an admin fee charged by the post office or courier to collect these fees.
