Hey
Sorry if this has been done before,
Have easyjet changed their policy for bike carriage? It seems to be that now if you pay for a hold bag (£24iirc) and a bike (25eachway) you get 32 kgs in total or if you just pay for sports equipment you get 32kg, I flew easyjet last year to the alps and I'm sure we got around 50kgs in total as my bikebox alone weighed 30kgs.
Cheers
Just checked the magic words are still there , from EJ carrier regulations...
(1) Carriage of bicycles:
The bicycle must be packaged in a bicycle box or bag
Only one bicycle per bicycle box or bag will be permitted
No other items can be carried in the bicycle box (i.e. clothing)
The handlebars must be flush with the frame
The pedals must be flush against the frame or removed
Passengers travelling with bicycles are recommended to check-in 2 hours prior to departure. Bicycles are subject to the sports equipment fee and exempt from any excess baggage charges relating to the weight of the bicycle.
Bottom of section 10
We love that section. 50Kg max allowable but no single bag over 32kg.
Brilliant musta missed that thanking you sir! 🙂
Its probably worth printing that off because there's a fair chance they'll argue with you at the airport.
If I were you I would double check with EJ customer services, as the interpretation of those regulations seems to depend on who you get at check in. When we flew last year, we were told that whilst any passenger is entitled to a maximum of 50kg, excess baggage charges are payable above 20kg or above 32 kg if you pay the sports/bike supplement.
One of our party got charged an extra £200! Each way!!!!!!
They like charging excess baggage as i believe they get commission on it. I remember one new years eve at Stanstead hearing their staff competing with each other on how much charges they had raked up!! Be careful!
I spoke to EJ customer services few years back to get them to clarify the rule in writing for me. They even needed the term above to be located for them and then they needed to speak to their supervisor as customer services had trouble with it also. I got the email I was after but thankfully didn't need to use it.
Every time I go now I have my T&C's with me, relevant sections highlighted.. beware, there are 2 sets of conditions, normal ones and carrier ones. you need both to be sure.
I've never had any problems with EasyJet. Flew with them a few weeks ago and all was fine but I always have a copy of the T&C's with me should I need to argue the case at check in!
Actually this time, the email confirmation and my printed check in card had nothing on there at all about the fact that I'd booked the bike on with me so I had to contact them to get email confirmation that I'd already paid for the bike. Next time I'll do a screen print of the page that shows I've paid for the bike in advance.
Never had a problem either with easyjet. Always pay for sports bag. No issues. Flown twice this year.
Flying out of Luton to Athens a couple of years back we had an EJ director personally explain the rules to us and his staff

Time for refund FieldMarshall
Mind you, if they look and find anything other than a bike in your bag/box they could then simply declare it another piece of luggage and charge you accordingly
For balance............
Flew out to Spain with EJ. One guy in the group managed to get away with a bike bag and one bit of hand luggage, they never opened the bike bag to check for other stuff in either direction.
Flying to Turkey and back out bags were a few kg's overweight, over a group of 15 they just about added upto 200kg (10 bags) which I think is equally ambiguous, as we booked the bags/tickets together but the T&C's didn't explicitly state whether the allowance was communal or individual. Didn't get charged.
