Hi all

Any suggested rides in the Dorking area that might last 1-1.5 hours for a 9 year old first time MTBer?

Have the opportunity tomorrow and she is very excited!

TIA

Easy and fairly short, hmmm, I'll go with...
Dorking to Westcott loop: Park at Dorking West, go passed side of St Martins school, go up Ranmore Coach Road...this track:
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=515282&y=150115&z=115&sv=515282,150115&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=724&ax=515282&ay=150115&lm=0

head into Westcott, stop at bakery, then use Route 22 starting here...
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=514262&y=149030&z=115&sv=514262,149030&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=724&ax=514262&ay=149030&lm=0
...to return to Dorking via Milton Court

Polesden Lacey loop: Start at top of Ranmore car park here...
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=514149&y=150405&z=115&sv=514149,150405&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=724&ax=514149&ay=150405&lm=0
...and head north to do a lap around Polesden Lacey: I'd suggestion heading out on this BW passed YHA...
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=513866&y=151082&z=115&sv=513866,151082&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=724&ax=513866&ay=151082&lm=0
then use this BW for the return...
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=513343&y=152154&z=115&sv=513343,152154&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=724&ax=513343&ay=152154&lm=0
Don't forget to stop off at Pols Lacey cafe...massive sausage rolls!

Extra time: head here (Park at Dorking West and head down road alongside car recycling and allotments)...
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=515479&y=149910&z=115&sv=515479,149910&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=724&ax=515479&ay=149910&lm=0
...and mess about on the bmx/mtb track (its easier enough: big berms and tabletops...my daughter does it as she's same age)

Please note I'm notoriously bad in my family for misjudging how long my family routes take...you may very well take long than 1 - 1.5hour 😳

Good luck 🙂

Took my boy for his first mtb ride last weekend. Started at margery wood carpark (near reigate hill) and looped on the north downs way. Pretty flat, which helped, and lots of adventure like the bomb holes. Even stopped mid ride at the Sportsman for refreshments. Is there anywhere similar around Ranmore if a Reigate hill start is too far?

Too slow typing, the polsden lacy loop is excellent and you can get good icecreams.
