You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
In a couple of weeks we will be heading off into the north west highlands for a tour on the tandem. Fully laden with comfy camping kit. We like to ride estate roads and the like and with minimal hike a bike. Its about wandering thru the scenery not the gnarr. No particular destination in mind just a wonder around
We will be setting off from inverness and have Garve - Allerdale / Amat - Ullapool for the first bit. Kylesku - Achferry and Merkland to Altnabad pencilled in with the obvious road bits to connect these up. ~We want to go to lochinver to the pie shop. I doubt we will have time to get much further north than that.  I am really looking for bits we can connect up rather than out and backs tho out and back could be done for particularly fine scenery or camping spots.
so any bits missed? Any good ideas you can share? Really prefer double track as if we end up dragging the bike thru swamps Mrs TJ might bury me and the bike in the aforementioned swamp
FWIW, the pie shop isn't all that. It's at a nice point in the route though, especially if you've just done the WMRoI.
I like the pie shop! Been there a few times. WMR is on the agenda and some of the dead end roads in the area - one of our aims ( over time not just for this trip) is to ride all the dead end roads in the highlands
Oh - get in touch with swayndo about looping round Wyvis. That might give you an option back to Inverness.
Ta for the help scotroutes
anyone with any more ideas? Nice easy touring / gravel / estate road type riding in the north west highlands
