Hi. This is for myself and my dad in his 70’s. He’s not super fit but has an e-bike. Ideally where we could stay at a campsite / pub in my van and do a different 3-5 hr loop on a couple of days.
Northern England, Scotland or Northern wales. Scenic and remote ideally.
Is there anything around Ballater? That was lovely when I recently visited? I was thinking Tan Hill inn actually and routes in the dales. Along those lines anyway.
thanks in advance.
Loads round Dumfries and Galloway
Nice stuff around gatehouse of fleet towards Newton Stewart (as above D&G).
Ballater is great for easy gravel routes as well as more challenging riding.
We were staying near Aboyne last week and rode on 5 consecutive days, we only used the car to go along the valley to ride from Braemar.
The Deeside way is great for connecting areas.
We had a great time just don't tell anybody about it ooops
Out and back aplenty on Speyside Way and Dava Way. Or do it as a 3 day tour via hotels like we just did.

Black woods of Rannoch and Loch Rannoch.
Aberfeldy and Glen Almond.
The area around Braemar and Ballater are brilliant, probably the nicest gravel riding I've done. You can ride pretty much wherever you want as you have a right to roam in Scotland. Up to Loch Muick then North towards Balmoral, Possibly coming down via Glen Grinock. You can add in the woodlands to the west of Balmoral depending on how far you want to go. There's also a great loop going North from Balmoral past Invercauld House and past Corndavon Lodge. But wherever you go you're going to have a good time.
I'd recommend Ed Shoote's 'Gravel Ride Scotland' Book.
