Heading up to eastridge tomorrow for the first time since the felling and was wondering what's up and running?
I understand the stuff on the snailbeach side is untouched, and seen a few people on strava riding student champs and big log etc? Anything to avoid up there for the time being?
I love Eastridge, I have relations nearby and ride it a couple of times a year. Really appreciate the work that goes in. If anyone on the forum is involved in looking after it - thanks. We're very lucky to have places like that in the UK that are maintained by volunteers.
Sorry, not a helpful response at all to the OP!
I'll caveat that I've not been up for a little bit but a lot of it is fine. The red trail is ok, all the trails off lord's hill are fine, students and old dog are unaffected. The stuff on the north west side is more affected but there's plenty to be going at.
Hello from MINSTERLEY.
Snailbeach side is all good . The very steep off piste stuff that crosses the pipeline is taped off down hill of the pipeline.
The very start of wizard is covered in brush at moment. But the rest is good.
Goliath is clear ..whoppie
The area above the car park (Habberley) is a bit hit and miss.
But theres still loads to ride.
Folks, what is the latest on the trails? I plan to head over next week.
Forestry England still says the trails are closed for maintenance:
https://www.forestryengland.uk/eastridge-woods/activities
And the Eastridge Trail Partnership group on Facebook also says they are still in the process of being re-opened, but that was 18th May and nothing since.
It's my favourite place, I hope everything is OK. Anyone able to give an update?
Thanks.
Plenty to ride there at the moment along with some new lines that snake some of the forestry work.
Some stuff had clearly been mangled but lots hasn't
I was there early July and enjoyed it.
I think they've had a lot of off-piste building going on and conflict with locals and so there are a few 'We've closed this wild trail' signs about with tape across, but yeah, still a lot to enjoy.
I was there yesterday, the main red route is a bit overgrown but the majority of the other well used trails are running brilliantly. I’ve been going for over a decade and I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun! It was surprisingly busy too (by Eastridge standards), lots of very happy walkers and mountain bikers! 🙂
Sounds good, thanks folks.
