Fitting these last night and in a moment of distraction tightened the XT brake clamps to 5Nm. Realised after finishing that these should be less tight than the stem face plate, checked and reset at 3Nm.

Well within tolerance surely, or will the ends snap of first rocky trail ? 😳

Doubt I even do my levers to 3nm, I use just enough to stop them moving- if I have a stack I want them to rotate not snap (I have a Ritchey Torque Key which I use on the stem clamps etc).

Otherwise I reckon you'll be fine (makes note to check OPs posting history in a few months time...).

As above, brake levers are the only things you want loose enough to move if you push them.

But they'll be fine. Man I remember the day you'd just ballpark everything without a torque wrench. It was last Thursday.

Rule of thumb I use on carbon bars is c 5nm. Have tighten them far more on carbon bars (before I had a torque wrench) and have had no issues
