Had the day off and no kids to look after, so a spot of Chilterns "gravel" was on the cards.

Skyline,  Afan. Not been for years,  was good, apart from getting lost.

Quick lap after work up to the trig above my house. Much needed after a busy week at work.

Decent day, Friday, so we (my son and I) set out to attempt a 100km XC round Hebden route devised, as an alternative to Mary Townley loops, last year but left well alone since. It was hot, hard work at times, and required A LOT of food and water. By the end we modified the intended route to get more food and reduce the climbing as I was bust (and back home, tea was ready). I got home at 99, son rode round the block to get up to 100. We past two of the GB divide riders, 3rd and 4th placed at the time, one a cool guy on a singlespeed sporting beard, tan and flip flops(!) I intended to give him some morale boosting congratulatory encouragement, but he trumped me shouting "wow guys, awesome! have a great ride!" ....a true Don.

Had a wet day at Dyfi Bike Park on Saturday, massively out of my comfort zone but was getting down the reds with no issues by the end of the day (when it had dried up a bit!).

The whole Pivot Factory DH team tuned up for the afternoon so there was plenty of stylish riding to be seen on the hill, definitely none by me!

One of those rides where the ground conditions didn't match the map and satellite image - but we embraced the adventure anyway. Galloway Hills.

Public holiday for me today (but nobody else in my family) so no option really but to get out of the house and do a big purely single-track ride.

Longest I’ve ever done at my favourite tracks. It got disturbingly warm for winter 😬

An afternoon nap may have happened.

When I wasn't staring at the Garmin trying to re-route myself around another locked gate, I stopped to take some pictures of the amazing landscape.

@oldandpasit. Lost? how'd you manage that? 🤣

@gallowayboy, nice one, that looks like "sufficient" climbing

@reluctantjumper, Is it just me or does that Dyfi signpost (I've got a similar picture to yours) just look a bit too much like a headstone?

It was a glorious long weekend, starting on a red hot Thursday in Wales, multiple rides, all of them glorious! Although probably the most fun was spending a few hours mucking about on the local jumps 🙂 we even saw snakes!

Following the most boring route on Ranmore that I stole off the web.

First go with Komoot which was bloody amazing as were my varifocal riding glasses.
