5 years of faultless performance of my XX1 Eagle cranks has come to an end, the insert holding the axle into the DS crank has got a wobble. Has anyone else had this happen? I assume there is no solution other than a new chainset and that it will just fall apart at some point?
Anyone got thoughts on what to replace with? It's gxp non boost just to make things extra complicated!
Cheers.

I think a lot of carbon cranks with metal inserts eventually go wobbly. Sram not that common - but Raceface ones are renowned for failing.

You might eek some more life out of it by trying to get some strong epoxy in round the insert to rebond it.

I’m sure there was a thread on here about a failed Raceface one and the type of epoxy you need - few years back now.

You might be able to eke some extra months out of it by repairing it with a dutch key or similar. Depends on the design and material.

Nup, the axle is fixed in the right hand drive side Crank.

Not uncommon I’m afraid. Same happen to my mate a few months ago. Think his was the left hand crank. His pedal fell off a mile or so into a ride. Expect yours to do similar if you keep using it.
Best option is to replace with alloy or check eBay for the side you’re looking for.

Gxp has the axle attached to the right hand crank arm.
Dub has the axle attached to the left hand crank arm.

Thanks folks, might try some glue. Otherwise need to figure out bb compatibility and get something new.

I don't think GXP is compatible with anything other than itself so you'll need to factor in a new bb if your going for something different.

Yeah I'm currently hope screwed into a pf30 adapter with gxp press in adapters on the bb. Simple huh?

If you want some secondhand GX Eagle GXP 170mm I’m about to take them off my bike because I need shorter ones due to my faulty ankle!

Cheers, I'll have a look into what's available and let you know. If you can PM me a price that might help with the decision.

I’ve had alloy sram cracks that have done that. They fell off mid ride and could no longer be tightened up
