Hi all,
ive just got a new bike with an eagle cassette, I just tried to remove the cassette with a standard cassette tool but it doesn’t seem to fit. Is there a different tool for Eagle cassettes?
cheers
No, standard tool, but they're done up tight. I use one with a 12mm rod in the centre
Remember to grease before re-installing - should have been greased when first fitted
By any chance does you're current tool have quite a big chamfer on the tips? If so, you'll need one thats a bit more squared off as its a much shallower insertion depth. e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Park-Tool-FR-5-2GT-Cassette-Locking/dp/B06ZYFVDJQ/ref=asc_df_B06ZYFVDJQ/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310485825261&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11334492167148359451&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046449&hvtargid=pla-492748648061&psc=1&th=1&psc=1
Have you checked if the hub is one that needs the end cap taken out first?
Hope Hub?
End cap needs removed first. Other hubs probably similar
Thanks all I’ll have another look , the hubs are Propain, I’ll probably need to remove the end cap.
Also get a tool with longest possible recess. The one on the left is hopeless, one on right much better. Basically the splines need to be fully engaged or you risk expensive damage.
