After a few months of my GX Eagle setup running well I had some poor shifting and replaced the cable. It was fine for a few rides but I'm now getting some noise like it needs aligning. I've fiddled with the cable tension and it's not great, time for a new chain???
Also when tightening the cable with the barrel adjuster I could get the chain off the top cog and into the spokes. Ordinarily I'd expect the mech limit screw to stop that, I assume this is the same on Eagle so I need to adjust it?
Thanks
P.S. whoever posted recently about Eagle reliability is a jinx
You need to set the limit screws before you end up with big problems like the chain coming over the top and going into the wheel. Treat Eagle exactly the same as any other in terms of set up, it's just very sensitive to set up if you want it to work smoothly. The Sram website has a very good instructional pdf to follow.
My Eagle chain is very worn (I left it too long and a new chain won't work with the old cassette now) but still shifts perfectly so I doubt its that causing the bad shifts.
Thanks, ill take a look. 👍🏻
Don’t discount mech hanger alignment - faffed about for ages with mine until I did this - perfect ever since
Also get your red b tension tool out - they are super fussy to that being setup right
Limit screw adjusted and b tension set as was well out. Â Cheers.
