Just gone from triple to double and bash. The mech is now sky high in comparison and looks daft. Any way to lower it (i think not but am prepared to be proved wrong - tj?)

Only by a small amount,which may have been done already. You can unscrew the mech body from the mounting plate and invert the little chromed oval it screws into,to allow an alternative position.
