OK so the article isn’t about EBikes but it’s about cobalt which is needed for ebike and electric vehicles.

Worth a read if you’ve not seen it and have an ounce of decency! Should we be using cobalt in EBikes, should we be buying EBikes etc.

I tried one, I like it in the right environment etc. But....

I tried a mobile phone, I like it in the right environment etc. But...

I realise why you've framed this the way you have but changing what we buy is not the solution, changing how it's mined is. How that's achieved, of course, is the $64k question.

Cobalt is used in absolutely loads of industries (including refining oil), the dozen grams in an ebike battery would not be a great concern.

The likes of Tesla/Panasonic have already reduced the amount of cobalt in their battery packs and are aiming for cobalt free within a few years.
