Now up to now my view is e bikes are good as they allow people access to the trails who may not be able to get out otherwise but today saw a different side - was winding up zig Zak hill with a few people in front so no great hurry when I get an e bike up my arse not saying owt but basically all over my back tyre- said rider looked mid twenties wearing a full face helmet etc and it just left me thinking whether this is the thin end of the wedge? Are they closer to motorbikes than mtb's?

There is a grey area that will becoming ever larger as the technology improves.

Damn these young people and their freedom to chose a different means of riding to the top!

Money don't buy class 😆
But on s serious side it maybe that the rider has a disablement and maybe one of his first rides out so isn't aware of trail etiquette etc etc etc....
Each to their own, he's not breaking any laws so at this time we have all got to suck it up and smile and perhaps some friendly words of advice to such riders.

Maybe the rider had a heart condition and didn't want a broken jaw.
Maybe he/she was fine and just lazy.
The fact is, they were outside, enjoying the freedom of two wheel so who cares?

The only problem I see here is that he was sitting right up the OPs arse, which is bad craic regardless of power plant

I often think that when the pikeys race their motocross bikes up our road when the Derby is on.

So helpful and iolo if they were on a full blown crosser you'd be ok also

There were 2 of them and they 'appeared' to be lads just looking to rip up the trails- didn't ask for a doctors note though!

A lot of the trails STWers rave about were originally cut by Motocross and Trials bikes. I still ride quite a few places we share with crossers. when we meet they're usually friendly and up for a chat.
So yeah, I'm pretty sure I would prefer to meet a full blown (WTF that is?) crosser rider than a fun guy like you out on the trails Pop.

There maybe troubles ahead

Top speed 75 km/h

0-50 km/h 7.5 seconds

They weren't though, they were on a motorised bicycle

where is the motor bike electric bike boundary?

Where I've ridden it was horse and cart and sheep, round the lancs area where I was for a bit there was a heap of crap caused by motors ripping it up, the thing about a bike is it's really hard to spin the back wheel for more than one turn... anything motorised can rip stuff up much more easily, if you have one then sitting on somebody's arse is not on.

As most of the ebike threads seem to start with I'm removing the limiter it's not on. I guess the people who own & maintain the trails might end up having a say and the ROW laws will probably get updated too.
