Was just reading the article about the new Brose motor unit and wondered if we will ever see a standardised motor and battery mount to let you buy a frame and fit the motor of your choice.

I suspect not due to the amount of optimisation of frame and suspension layout that needs to be done around the bulk and weight of the E-bike systems as well as the trend to try and hide as much as possible but as the motor units and batteries get smaller then surely that must make it easier to set up some form of standard?

Or is the bike industry going to keep well away from any standards to ensure bikes will sell as whole units and ensure built in obsolescence?

*disclaimer - don't have an e-bike, this is purely out of interest as curious*

Someone should probably make a frame with a. Flat mount on the bottom or something they offer 3d printed mounts for each type of motor. They'll never standardise.

Don't know if you can actually buy the motors separate can you? Talking the big brands there, not bafang.
