Planning a trip up to the Lakes this weekend with a couple of mates for some hiking. Keen to do a day's riding too but rather than take our own bikes thinking about hiring some full sus ebikes to see what all the fuss is about.
Anyone got any suggestions or recommendations of places that may have 3 such bikes available to hire? Looking at staying in the Keswick area most probably.
Cheers.
There use to be a e-bike hire place near the Booth's car park. Not sure if it's still there.
Place adjacent to Booths in Keswick is this place - https://www.e-venturebikes.co.uk/
It was there a couple of months back but I've not been in or rented from them. I've been in Booths a bit though (nom nom, slurp).
Also close to booths is whinlatter Bikes. Hired e-mtbs from them earlier this year. Good friendly service, bikes in decent order, fairly basic specs but all working well.
Edit just read you are after full suss - this place only had hardtails
Not near Keswick but Grizedale bike centre hire Haibikes
Hired a fs bike for myself and my son from e venture last year and mine was absolutely battered... Motor kept giving out within the first 7 miles of the borrowdale bash we planned to ride... Gears wouldn't index at all, and tyres were worn as hell.
Struggled on with it but eventually turned around and took it back. When I asked for a refund I was refused as I was over the max weight limit of the bike. When I explained that Id already thought of this and had jumped on my friends shimano powered bike and ride it with literally no issue, I was met with silence. I'll never step foot in that shop again. On a lighter note.. Hired one from whin latter bikes around the corner and couldn't have had better service. Ymmv
Thanks for the suggestions. Couldn't find anything around Keswick but we've managed to hire some Turbo Levos in Grizedale.
I got a Carbon Levo from Grizedale in August, it was only a week old when I hired it. Nice bike, did 42 mile and 6000ft of climbing around the usual areas and still had 2 bars left on battery.
