Dyfi Forest off piste

The Welsh Enduros run from Dyfi Adventure campsite. I believe those trails get a bit of a battering from moto so conditions can be a bit hit and miss but there's plenty there.

The stuff on Corris side is accessible from ClimachX car park.

White Rocks is rideable from Machynlleth.

Hafren forest is a lot of fun if you look on Trailforks.

Most of the stuff on the Aberdyfi side is absolutely battered at the moment by motos, felling and the weather.

The stuff on the CliMachX side is holding up better, there's the usual 3 in one and elephant, and some very, very full on stuff coming off the final descent around the place where there's a little steppy climb.

All on strava heatmaps so have an explore on that.

When we went to North Wales last year we did a day in the Forest the day before the Bike Park.

Loosely did the Climach X trail but with diversions off down some off piste bits that someone on here helped us out with. Nothing silly technical - but fun.

Just make sure you have strong casing tyres on - I slashed the sidewall open on an enduro casing Conti and my mate destroyed an exo+ dhr2.

I was riding there Saturday. I went in from the Aberangell side, having been recommended that the tracks over there were better than from the Cli-Machx side.

TBH I was still a bit underwhelmed, a lot of the tracks are a bit ****ed and I think it needs a longer dry spell to get the better ones running well.

Gwydyr forest was way better, if that's an option?

To add the stuff on the Climach x side we rode was fairly all weather - it was pouring with rain the whole time we were there and just had flicky mud on us - no gloop. Mostly loose slate and rock.

Came here to recommend the enduro trails from the Aberangel side and gutted to hear they’re somewhat trashed.
We spent a couple of weekends seeking out those trails using Welsh Enduro stage maps and Trailforks, they were awesome. The owner at Dyfi Adventure campsite is super helpful with takes of where to go.
We were planning on getting back there this spring - will need to check with you forum locals how it’s looking before planning. I know the campsite has delayed their spring opening to May due to waterlogged everything so it’s a good bet the forest is an absolute mess still.

It was me that said that, so I'll try to give a bit more detail if it helps (using Trailforks names):

Midge Isolation - Mostly clear but suffering from mud patches enough to stop you and ruin the flow, tree down at end.

King of Steep - Clear I think, bloody steep

Heaven & Hell - Bit of mud but still really fun, this was the best trail IMO

Dolly Mix - Top few sections v good, but trees down and a swamp at the bottom

Zoomy Halloumi - Knackered and trees down, wouldn't bother

Did they clear Heaven&Hell then? That was absolutely covered in many many downed trees last year and looked like it would never recover.

How about the Sparrowhawk/President pair?

We are planning on doing the Traws Eyri at the end of May with a few detours. We are starting from the campsite at Llwyngwern Farm, Pantperthog.

We undestand that it could be more fun to head straight into the forest and take in a couple of descents and pop out at Abergynolwyn rather going North and around. There is a bridleway that leads that way from the campsite.

Does anyone have a GPX that would lead us across that way please? And I'll be on fatbike with Jumbo Jims so mud is best avoided but I'm sure it will be bone dry by then 😉

We've planned a weekend in July to include a day in Dyfi Forest - so i thought i'd resurrect this thread.

What's the latest from anyone who's ridden there?

Is Heaven&Hell actually clear of trees - it was an amazing trail until storm damage a couple years ago and it was so battered I cound't imagine anyone ever clearing it. Would be great to hear its back up and running?

Tomohawk/Sparrohawk, Midge isolation are a couple of faves. King of steep usually too steep unless ultra dry for me.

Any map of any recent enduro there? Is there still that TrashFreeTrails lovely trail down through the woods near the bottom near the campsite?

Any recommended, starting from the Aber side?

Report back after your visit. I'm curious about whether it's just me or if Dyfi off piste is a bit underwhelming for everyone.

Ridden Heaven and Hell, and the two trails either side of Power line (Trash Free trail and the other one) above the campsite. All running well and dry, enjoyed them as a quick outing before heading home. Couple of downed trees, but nothing major.
