THE epic ride.

*Please note – eBikes are not permitted to ride in this event*

The howies Dyfi Enduro is a BIG ride. There’s lots of climbing and lots of descending making this a test of both rider skills and fitness. The ride is long and quite technical in places but you’ll be rewarded by an experience that includes the best that the Dyfi Forest has to offer. The route is a tough 56km and for those who make it to the route checkpoint before the cutoff time, there is the option to add an extra 4km loop that adds a further 200m of climbing and descending.

Seems strange as thought this event would have been ideal as it seems to attract the more older type of rider. Looks like they are charging for camping again which is a shame 🙁

I think they should be allowed in a competition, that is assuming of course that all the non-E-bikers are allowed to get juiced up to the eyeballs, you know Level playing field and all that...

Use the old Armstrong defence, worked well for him.

The dyfi isn't drug tested. Fill your boots.

Most people in the Marquee would struggle to pass the drug test no trolling here ! genuinely would not be offended if ebikes were allowed as long as they had to do 2 laps 🙂

If they are short of entries then maybe adding a 200km evoke loop might be worth it, from what I hear they have no issue filling the race so why bother chasing riders who are not racing

Are the battery’s strong enough for the full dyfi distance, my local ride last year 30 ish miles 1200 m climbs in the last hill my legs had gone, and I heard the whiring sound of an ebike, that eased past me then promptly ran out of juice 15-20m ahead, oh how I laughed and the legs came back strong

Why would anybody go and pay for this event ? You can ride it all for free, yes I’ve ridden it and it’s never fun Queing to get down a trail

Get your act together then and get to the first bot of trail before the queuing starts.

As for E-bikes in the event, if they don't want them they don't want them.

Or alternatively you and your mates have a ‘mare at the start and loose an hour to punctures. Then the trails are clear without any rushing. In hindsight the descents were great that year,

Person buys ebike then complains that a race that has never previously allowed ebikes doesn't change its rules to permit ebikes?

Don't believe ebikes should be allowed (they're not allowed in the HONC either I noice) just one of the facts of life - getting older and no longer being competitive - specific ebike events?

I thought a lot of people used e-bikes because of heart conditions?

Or enter something that has age categories, having had my arse kicked in a couple of events by blokes pushing 60 getting older doesn't slow you down, you let yourself slow down.

I asked them last year about their stance on eBikes and they said that their insurance won't cover them so until there's much greater demand they won't be allowing them. Seems fair enough to me but means I won't be doing it this year.
