Bought one of these 1200 lumen lights late last year as a back up light.

Light output is amazing for the money and is fantastic for road riding. Quality is shit though. Battery failed after first damp ride even though it was wrapped in a plastic bag and I bought a replacement from Smudge.

All going well until this morning when the light started flashing then went off. I thought it had run out of power so put it on charge, charger led went to red, just unplugged as its now gone green. Plugged light in and its not working. Switch is doing its usual glow but light won't come on.

Any ideas whats up with it and if repair is simple or I just bin it.

Just buy a new one, thats the joy of DX, you'll still have only spent 10% of some brands lights even after buying the replacement.

I might just do that although I may just wait to later in the new year as I'm sure a brighter version will be out by then. I wouldn't have bothered had I not bought the smudge battery.

Did you buy this recently? Thought about sending it back to DX? I know some guys that did and got sorted (eventually, postage can take a while)

Wouldn't do any harm to contact them about it.

I've had a 900 lumen P7 for a couple of years and apart from damaging the battery myself its going strong

I don't think its really worth it to be honest. The replacement battery would have made the warranty void anyway.

Do you think the latest problem is the new battery or the light?
Maybe as Smudge if its one of his batteries?

also worth asking Smudge if he has any spare head units going, as occasionally a buyer will request a spare battery. Obviously not as cheap as DX, but then you know why...

Also have you opened up the unit and looked for any obvious loose wires?

Pebble,

Email me direct first and then post the light and battery to me. Like they have mentioned above, I may be able to fix it as I do carry a few spare circuit boards and components for the lights, just depends if mine are compatible or not, but I should be able to help you resolve the problem one way or another
