I'm heading upto Scotland at the end of March and was hoping to visit Dunoon.
I went a few years ago and many of the enduro/dh trails looked good but were in a state of disrepair.
Have the trails kicked on, as part of the Minnaar supported vision or dedicated locals, or have they fallen further by the wayside. Is it worth a trip there?
Haven't been over in a few years. It was nearly unrideable last time through a mix of water erosion and zero maintenance.
Had a look on Strava and there's barely any traffic on them. 15 riders so far this year down one of the historically main trails
Erm, Duno !
I'll get me coat.
I stayed nearby last September on holiday; I spent a day riding up to the top to see what it was like.
It's a nice steady ride up to the top of the trails, but the trail eventually disappeared into a massive felled moorland - after about an hour of struggling over streams and through tangles of branches and fallen trees under a blazing sun I retraced my steps - so there's a trail somewhere that might be amazing but I never found it.
There was one trail that was pretty full-on - can't recall the name but it was a little bit overgrown, then had a hugely committing drop over a massive rock - I felt that if it went wrong I would be lying there for several days thinking about my life choices before being found.
Found another trail that was quite nice, quite overgrown, but nothing insanely technical and quite fun. Then headed back.

There's also an incredible trail on the other side of the peninsula - an afternoon of mostly hike-a-bike with a few hundred metres of riding. I've not felt so far from civilization for a while - if anything had gone wrong I would for sure still be there - no way anyone would have ever found me. Absolutely stunning but don't take a bike.

I was pretty relieved when I finally found my way back to the 21st century. Best coffee and ice-cream for a long time.

They do struggle to stay on top of them - i's literally a small handful of locals doing anything on them. That said they were mostly in decent nick last time I went up in spring last year. They don't get a lot of use, cos it's Dunoon and not the easiest place to get to (my parents and brother moved to Innellan about 25 years ago). But unless you're going over there for other reasons, I wouldn't bother to go just for the MTB trails. You'd have a better time doing some gravel loops in that area I would say.
Rode there last year and trails were in great shape
some newer trails from when I ride there a couple of years ago
also some had some nice work done to them
the Badd has had loads of work
theres a new top section to upper burnside
tight as you like is a great trail
tomas trail has lost the woodwork it had but still a great trail
you will have a good days riding if on a trail bike or ride them all twice on an Eeb
luckily I own a caravan up there now so will hopefully get a few weekends in the summer
I've never been, but I'm aware they had done a lot of work in anticipation of the SES last year, and the key builders weren't too happy that it got cancelled.
