Rewatched Rusty Rides Gravel's Beinn a'Ghlo video last night and was struck by how it must be one of the most scenic/beautifully shot Scottish gravel videos I've watched. It inspired me to try and get up there as soon as possible, especially since a trip to Fealar Lodge has always been a shameful omission from my route book.

I plotted this route which I'm quite excited about, lots of other bits I've been meaning to check out also. Probably one for April/May right enough...

Check out this route on Strava: https://strava.app.link/Pm0PzOPTDRb — Beinn a'Ghlo

I know a fair chunk of the terrain north of Loch Ordie, think I dragged a BoB trailer north of Oisseanaich Beag over to Kirkmichael many moons ago, but is the route to the forestry above Straloch reasonable, or just marshy bog? Was pretty sure it was a known through-route but not much evidence on Strava heatmap...

I've not done most of that but the climb out of Pitlochry to the mine road is fully rideable, and then you're fast down it to Logierait.

You could also turn right once you get to the mine road and follow it over towards the Glassie Bike Park and then back to Strathtay, over the river and get back onto your route.

I fully plan to do the full climb and descent to Glassie some day, although it would make this route too long for me! I think I'd want to take the 29er though, that descent from the top-most mines looks steep and fast, would be more fun to let rip with bigger tyres and some suspension.

I've updated my original route though, realised no point staying high and in the forest all the way to Straloch when I could descent on good track to Kirkmichael and pick up the Cateran Trail, adds no distance and I've been wanting to check out bits of the C.T. anyway.

Yes, far better descent on an MTB (especially compared to a loaded gravel bike...).
