I recently completely wrecked a pair of Endura freezing point trousers in a big crash. I've found the trousers to be a real help over the last few winters and would like to replace them. However, the one thing they were always a bit rubbish for was staying up. To the point where I was going to sew some elasticated straps from an old pair of bib shorts onto them.
That leads me to my question, has anyone heard of an equivalent style of insulated biking trouser that is dungaree style? I'm thinking that might be a worthy replacement. I'm off to trawl European websites to see if those clever peeps have what I'm thinking of as all I can find on uk mtb sites are waterproof dungarees, not insulated ones.
Madison do some but quite spendy
Also, if you can still pick up a deal on a Nukeproof Dirt Suit (they were massively reduced not so long ago) the trousers are fine to use standalone and include detachable braces.
The Madison ones don't seem to be thermal unfortunately.
Braces for the win ! I supplement all my non belted mtb trousers with braces as I’ve never had a pair that stay up!! I also think that Endura freezing point are the best winter trousers but I ain’t splashing out on dungarees to find out any different !
Probably not available in your size.... https://spottyotter.co.uk/forest-leader-insulated-pu-dungarees/?sku=5060495042362
Adult sizes of the Spotty Otter stuff could be awesome
Fox Defend Fire Bib Pants kept me warm and toasty down to minus 8 at this years Strathpuffer.
They're on discount at the moment so you may struggle to find stock.
I'll have a look at the Fox ones. I suspect I'll be on braces with freezing point trews.
The Madison ones don’t seem to be thermal unfortunately
I just wear (Snickers) long john type leggings under mine (and my Leatt drysuit) when it's cold
I wear braces with my freezing points and it works great.
I was chatting to a guy on the trail wearing a smart set of riding dungarees - unfortunately I cannot recall the brand, but he said he got them for the megavalanche, where a crash can send snow right up your crevice.
Maybe a search for 'what kecks for the mega?' might turn up some brands.
