Hi, sorry,

If I buy a bike (Specialized) fitted with full 11 sp sram stuff s700, gx mech does the below seem correct.

If I wanted to use Shimano gears I’d need both xt shifter and mech as pull length is different but that would work fine on existing SRAM cassette/kmc chain

If I wanted to use my xt cassettes I’d need To change (rear hub is a Specialized think it might be royal for a Levo) to Shimano freehub adapter, which is presumably sort of bolt on/bolt off

Do Shimano chain work ok on SRAM cassettes and vice versa.

Ta

Oh do 11sp cassettes fit on 9/10 sp freehubs or do I need an 11 speed specific

Is this assuming everything is 11 speed?

Correct, IIRC on the bolt on bolt off, might depend on how swish the hub is/if its DT Swiss internals. Though, if its an NX cassette or lower, you wont need to change, as they run on Shimano freehubs. You'll be able to tell by how small the smallest cog is, 10T SRAM, 11T Shimano

Correct

If referring to Shimano (or cheaper SRAM as above), then yes.

Old 9/10 speed free hubs may be a problem. Solution is buy a new free hub or butcher the 11speed cassette to fit.

Ta, yes 11 sp only, I liked the bike but imho Shimano is better, which is somewhat complicating matters,, cheers

SRAM and Shimano 11sp MTB stuff is all cross-compatible. This is a quirk of 11 speed, none of the others are.

People will tell you otherwise but I've tried every combo and everything works perfectly.
