A mate has a Scott Scale with an integrated headset. He’s noticed a tiny amount of play & tried to adjust it as you would a normal one. He said the top cap was already as tight as he’d ever go so asked me to have a look.

I have to agree that it’s already tighter than I’ve ever known one but there is still the tiniest bit of movement to be felt. There’s no info re this in manual & it’s currently tightened at 6nm

Headset & stem are both Syncros if that makes a difference.

Are we missing something or is this quite normal?

Sounds like it needs another spacer. There should never be any play or it can stretch the headtube.

He said he'd tried that - maybe worth another look.

Headtube length and fork?

With some fork/frame combinations you run the risk of having the top headset race run into the tapered portion of the steerer (100mm headtube with BOS Dizzy fork in my case).
