You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've just finished reading the article on the Duddon Valley in the latest edition of my favourite MTB mag and I have some bad news for everyone who may be interested in riding this route...sadly it does not exist; it's a myth. Singletrack have made it all up and everyone knows that there is nothing for the mountain biker west of Ulverston, really there isn't. Believe me, I am from Millom and you'd never catch me bombing around the Duddon, Corney, Ulpha or Birker Fells or careering down the side of Black Combe, so I am afraid you'll need to stick to the good old main fells of the Lakes for some mountain biking fun. Enjoy the ride!
Great article though.
agreed no pubs around their neither!
Duddon? Never heard of it. Don't bother looking you won't find it.
Our climbing clubs got a hut there too, never found it...
😉
I'm forced to echo the OPs sentiment. It's really not worth it. Just like the deserted roads on car adverts, its totally fictional.
I've camped there. It's dreadful. No lake either. I don't know why I kept going back.
"I’ve camped there. It’s dreadful. No lake either. I don’t know why I kept going back."
Probably the busy motorway and the raw sewage plant keeping you awake all night.
Nice that they thought to put the 'start' in the wrong place on the map, and left out all the 'extra' extension up to Great Stickle, to help discourage tourists.
As a Duddon resident, it was very considerate.....
