Me and the Woman in Charge are off for a three week trip soon with fairly limited space for stuff. So can anybody recommend some shorts which would do for on the bike and holiday lounging? The baggies I have are a bit too bikes in cut. Not bothered if they are bike shorts that look 'normal' or civvy shorts that work on the bike.

Gore ones used to look quite civvy. Not sure if they still do. also try likes of Endura Urban for slimmer fit and ones that don't scream 'bike' (though I found them an odd fit).

I don't know if you can still get them but Royal FS365- they're a bit weird with kneepads on, too tightly cut but they're ace otherwise

Giro New Road shorts are pretty good. Wearing mine outside the pub now after doing a 2 hour pure Gravel Dash fully laden shakedown ride. Herself is wearing Maloja shorts sitting opposite me.

Swrve UK. I've got a couple of pairs of their shorts and a pair of their trousers, and they're really good quality. I use them for touring and they look like normal shorts but have a seamless crotch and are really comfy.

Altura and Endura do "urban shorts" which might do it.

Levis, Swrve, Vulpine probably do as well.

Rapha Touring shorts if you have deep pockets

Ooh - just looked at the Swrve website for the first time in ages (.co.uk btw, .com is someone different!)

How tough are their shorts - tend to use mine for commuting and occasional MTBing rather than the other way round. And how breathable?

Second on the Giro new road shorts. Found them comfortable for long road rides, and they're fine off the bike too.

POC do some that are very casual but good on the bike, can't remember if it's air or flow, can be had in khaki or black.

Edit - hmm, lookign at CRC, they all seem to have big white logos on them - mine have a near- invivible black on black logo

the swrve shorts are well made and robust. close cut, not my first choice if it's properly warm though, as air doesn't circulate so well due to that cut.
