I know they are lightweight, but are they strong enough, or made of cheese?

Mine didn't fair very well and had some rather large dents in them.
I wouldn't have another set personally.

Guess they are basically the same rim as DT 4.2? My 24 hole ones have been fine. The rear one didn't survive being trampled by a cow in the alps but don't think no rim would. I'm only 10 stone mind.

I've had 4.2s on my Soul for years and they have been fine. Others think they are made of cheese bit they have survived fine for me.

Had both 4.2Ds and XR400s. Built into pretty strong, stiff wheels that didn't need much truing. They did dent at the slightest hint of a rock though.

cheers all, they are the same as the 4.2s.
Might steer clear as they will be used for mainly XC, but in Scotland so there are many rocks around too.

Are the superstar 430's any better??

I wouldnt have anotehr set. Got them on some Hope Hoops, but they are really dented and stickers peeled very quickly. Just binning the rear as advised by my wheel builder as its not worth truing anymore. Its being built up now with Arch EX, which isnt really a comparison rim.
