Had a problem with my DT Swiss XPW1600 wheelset, it's happened twice now when after I have left the bike for a while, put away after being cleaned. When pedal backwards the freewheel doesn't kick in. The first time this happened I put it down the cold, poured some warm water on it and it was fine. Today however it wasn't cold eventually after riding it for a bit it started to work and no problems for the rest of the ride.
Anyone else experienced this?
Not sure what hub is on those, but the Onyx hub has a circular spring that wraps around a groove in the pawl housing, and presses on the inner end of the pawl to operate it.They don't work very well if they get dirty, or are subjected to too much/too sticky grease.
Edit-think it's a star drive, you'll need a special tool to get at the inner hub bearing, but think you'll be able to service the ratchet without it. Probably just needs a clean and re-grease.
Thanks Coatesy, I'll give that a try, only had them a few months, never had this with my hope pro 2's might have to go back to these if these prove tempermental.
if it is similar to the star drive on a DT 240 there is a good youtube clip that explains how to do this. Apparently should be done every 3-4 months
