Im in need of a 27.5 front wheel.

Was searching for a pro5 fortus 30 to match the rear, but CRC have that size in an xm 1700.

Kind of tempted,as the hope is about £170, and the dt swiss is reduced to £90 but I know nothing of dt swiss hierarchy.

Good deal ? bad deal ? stick to matching hub/rim ? or ohh nice grab it quick.

I think the DT has an XM481 rim and is nearly 300g lighter. I'd be tempted to give that a go unless you need bling hubs.

I’d rather have DT Swiss hubs than Hope. 1700 wheels should come with DT350 level hubs IIRC so they’re decent.

I think a DT 1700 wheel set is about £600 RRP and while they can sometimes be found in sales, that puts them above most Hope offerings.

Hierarchy depends on the year but lower numbers = better. 1950, 1900, 1700, 1500 is the hierarchy and I think top end race oriented wheels might go down to 1300. 1700 is definitely decent. Check the spoke count though, might be weird (24?) if that’s a problem for you.

The two centrelock DT wheels I bought from CRC a few months ago did not have adapters, they will be OEM but still great price wise.

Its a good price yeah, but add an adaptor and thats now 110. can sometimes pick up the Hope for 150, so its not far off really.

TBH Im a bit of a all matched together type of bike builder. Try to stick with Hope and Hope is a UK company, and we should really try to lend support to that even if it costs a little more.

Wheels are Hope, brakes/rotors are Hope, dropper lever is Hope, spacers, clamp bar end things, top cap etc etc.

So I think Ill just wait, see if one pops up in a sale somewhere and get it at that.

.

My own fault really. I had the option a few months back and opted for a pro5 29er then changed my mind about the mullet set up, so im kind of buying twice 🙄

Spline has nothing to do with Centrelock Rotors. Spline just means straight pull spokes. The XM1700s I bought from CRC were 6 bolt (and described as Spline)

Yep as above. Spline doesn't mean wot you think it does.

Ribble have a Hope pro 4 hub fortus 30 front wheel for £119. It's centre lock though.

What about this one?
https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/p/dt-swiss-xm-1700-front-wheel. Says its 6 bolt, and is £5 cheaper.

I'd argue the DT is a better wheel, I'd buy it if the price differentce (vs Hope) was reversed. But if it's not what you want, it's not what you want.

Yes, but tall the pics show center lock, and last thing I want is for it to arrive, open the box and find a center lock rotor mount.

Mind you, the way this build has went with my chop and change on fork, brakes and front wheel having that to add to my problems wouldn't be that far off bloody normal 😆

Blimey, I thought the  XM1700 29er front wheel was a bargain when I paid £130.

I'd bite their whole arm off at that price.

I can send you some Hope stickers to put on it OP.

I ordered that front a couple of weeks ago thinking it was centerlock but it turned up with 6-bolt so I sent it back!
