Unsure of the hierarchy? Prefer lighter than heavier duty for general trail use but with eyelets.

Why not PHR washers? kinda like internal eyelets, no? If so, XM481.

Why the need for eyelets? Never had any issues with spoke holes cracking on DT's, built with and without the PWR washers.

XM481 would be my suggestion

I know the old eyelet thing causes disagreement but I've had them on all builds since the ubiquitous Mavic M231 BITD and just for whatever reason prefer the set up. My eyeletted EX 521 has been on the front of numerous bikes for 15 ? years and still perfect. The only time I went non-eyeletted I split a hole, that was 30 years ago though... 😀

For just 40g a rim (M502 over XM481) it's not a huge penalty.

So the PHR washer is an internal washer or just a thicker 'moulded' ring?

The phr washer is instead of eyelets.

It sits between the nipple and the rim - the xm481 is a higher spec rim than the m502 and DT must think the phr washer is a better solution than eyelets.

When I ordered my xm481’s I think they came with the phr washers and squorx nipples included.

The PHR washers are internal washers between the nipple & the rim, built with a bit of lube, it aids tensioning too.

PHRs earlier.

Thanks all - seems from the lack of stock around the 502 has been discontinued?

I may still find them but will consider the 481s.

Can anyone recommend a wheel builder who might stock these together with Hope hubs?

I used to like eyleted rims but have come round to phr, smaller hole, washer provides a larger surface area. Only PITA is if you drop a washer in the rim.

They tension up so nicely with an lubed spoke and grease between the nipple and PHR washer.

Moonglu if you want to buy online?

Or any decent lbs/wheel builder.

XM481s are in stock with Madison so available next day (27.5/29 28/32h)
Hope is normally next day if you order in the morning.
